AUTUMN MORNING ROUTINE TO BOOST YOUR ENERGY
Jen Mann, co-author of The Secret Language of the Body, gives 4 tips on how to feel more energised and grounded in the morning

As autumn settles in with its shorter days and cooler weather, many of us may start feeling sluggish. But establishing a morning routine that focuses on regulating your nervous system can help you feel more energised and grounded throughout the season. Here’s how to start your day with intention and boost your energy for a productive day ahead.
1. Vagal Breath
Begin your morning with five minutes of deep, mindful breathing. Inhale slowly for a count of four, hold for four, and exhale for four. This helps regulate your nervous system and allows you to start the day feeling centered and clear-headed.
2. Conscious Movement
Then, incorporate gentle movement, such as stretching or yoga, into your routine. A few minutes of light movement can wake up your body, release tension, and increase circulation, giving you a natural energy boost.
3. The ‘Vooooo’ Sound Exercise
Now, Sit comfortably, take a deep breath, and on the exhale, make a deep “Vooooo” sound. Let the vibration resonate through your chest. Repeat this three to five times. This sound activates the vagus nerve, which helps calm your body and create a sense of grounding for the day ahead.
4. Stomping and Shaking
Finally, release any pent-up energy and activate your nervous system by spending a few minutes stomping your feet and gently shaking your arms and legs. These movements help release tension, boost circulation, and wake up your body, leaving you feeling energized and more present.
By incorporating this simple yet powerful nervous system regulating routine, you can boost your energy by giving your mind and body a start to the day that feels more focused and balanced—ready to take on whatever autumn brings!
